Emergency Plumbing Paddington
When water is moving or gas is in the air:
Plumbing Paddington works across the suburb's pre-1940 weatherboard houses, where clay pipe drainage and ageing hot water systems cause no end of trouble. We clear blocked drains, fix burst pipes and handle gas fitting, same-day when we can.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill
Give us a ring on (07) 3067 4119 and explain the problem. We're available 24/7, every Paddington job has zero call-out fees and flat-rate pricing, and we work under QBCC No: 15024607, with same-day when we can.

Plumbing Paddington is a locally owned and operated Queensland plumbing and gasfitting business working the cottages and Queenslanders of the inner west. We're on these hills most weeks.
Every job, from a dripping tap on Given Terrace to a burst pipe under a gully-side floor, is carried out under QBCC No: 15024607. When the work is done you pay on site by card or EFTPOS.

This suburb's plumbing story starts in the 1850s, and most of it is still in the ground. Here is what that means for your place.
After trams began the climb up Given and Latrobe Terraces in 1898, workers' cottages and Queenslanders were packed onto tight, sloping blocks all along the ridges. Nearly the whole suburb falls inside council character overlays today, and the plumbing behind those weatherboard walls is often just as old as the street view.
Sewers only reached the suburb in the early 1960s under the Clem Jones program, and the earthenware house lines laid in that single push are now well past their prime. Most blockages and root intrusions start where those old pipes have cracked, or where joints have slipped out of line near the boundary.
Cottages that predate the 1927 water tower have usually been re-plumbed piecemeal over the decades. Where old galvanised pipe meets newer copper, the two metals react and corrode where they meet, and those joints can let go suddenly under a timber floor.
Plenty of cottages were done up during the 1990s wave of younger buyers, and the storage tank installed back then is now old enough that its anode, thermostat and relief valve are all candidates for failure.
Got a plumbing problem right now? Do this before you call:

covers the jobs that can't wait: a burst pipe flooding the void under a floor, a toilet overflowing, the gas smell that means leaving the house. Start here if water or gas is moving right now.
is the everyday list: leaking taps and running toilets, bathroom and kitchen work, gas fitting, and those slow concealed leaks that appear on a water bill before any damp patch shows. This is the busiest part of our run.
deals with the earthenware house lines, the roots from close-set garden trees, and the stormwater that funnels off the ridgetops. If a drain is slow, gurgling or surging out of a yard grate, this is your page.
covers repairs when a tank is failing and full replacement when it has reached the end. Storage tanks wedged into the narrow side passages between cottages are our bread and butter here.

The shape of this suburb drives most of its plumbing trouble. Two very different pieces of geography, two very different sets of problems.
Given and Latrobe Terraces follow the crest of the ridge, with the land falling steeply away on both sides. A rear-fall block pushes its stormwater and sewage a long way downhill before reaching the street below, and the water pressure at a ridgetop tap is a different story from a gully block.
Bayswater Street, Nash Street and Baroona Road sit on ground that was once Red Jacket Swamp, a wetland that once stretched from Baroona Road down to the river. River water has come back up from Milton onto those streets in 1893, 1974 and January 2011, when floodwater got as far as the Rosalie shops and Fernberg Road.
Drains laid in the old swamp ground are prone to seepage and silt, and low fixtures on those streets need isolating before a flood peaks. Summer thunderstorms from November to March load the yard drains in the dips first, while the ridgetop streets dry out fast.

We don't publish figures, because two houses on the same street can be two completely different jobs. What stays constant is the structure: the price is settled before any work begins, and it does not move afterwards.
A few things move a price on these hills:
Crawling under a highset cottage is a different job from working on a ground-level slab.
Whether galvanised line has to come out before new copper goes in.
How far a rear-fall property sends its drain line downhill to the street below.
We'll tell you which of those apply to your place before you commit to anything.

Our run covers the inner west, so a plumber is never far away:

That last card matters more than it sounds. We know which streets flood, which blocks fall the wrong way, and where the old pipe materials are hiding, because we work these hills every week.
There are no call-out fees for Paddington jobs, and no added charge for nights, weekends or public holidays.

Every repair sits under our Fix-It-or-It's-Free guarantee (T&Cs apply). If we're late, $100 comes off your bill.
Each job is done by a licensed plumber under QBCC No: 15024607, and a lifetime labour warranty covers the labour.
Licensed and insured, locally owned and operated, with flat-rate pricing.

Ring (07) 3067 4119 and tell us what's happening in Paddington. A few quick questions up front means the right parts come on the first visit.

You get flat-rate pricing with no hidden fees before any work starts. Approve it and we get going.

With cottages this close together, we come loaded for the usual suspects: opened earthenware joints, corroded galvanised-to-copper connections, and tanks wedged into side passages.

Pay by card or EFTPOS on site when the job's done, or ask us about Fix now, pay later.
Yes, every plumbing, drainage and gasfitting job we take on around Paddington is carried out under QBCC No: 15024607, the licence that covers both plumbing and drainage and gasfitting classes.
Yes, we quote the job before touching a tool, and the figure you sign off on stays fixed through to the end, whether it is a tap washer or a drain clearing.
We work same-day when we can, so the earlier you ring us the better our chances of getting a plumber out to your Paddington place before the day is done.
When the work is finished you settle up on the spot, with card or EFTPOS taken on site, so there is no invoice to wait for and nothing to chase afterwards.
Our regular run takes in Paddington itself plus the neighbouring suburbs of Red Hill, Petrie Terrace, Milton, Auchenflower and Bardon, all of which sit within a few streets of each other.
Ring (07) 3067 4119, tell us what is happening at your place, and we will set a time that suits you and quote the job before any work starts at your Paddington home.
